Varmys, plastic labels with a dynamic character

Varmys, a leading company in the labels sector offers a wide range of labels of different styles and uses in the sector of clothing manufacture. The materials with which these articles are developed are also very varied, and it is precisely to talk about one of these lines of the product in particular that we have contacted Fernando Mellado, this firm’s Marketing Director.

Plastic labels
We asked out interviewee about the advantages of plastic labels in relation to those manufactured with other materials. “Basically they present a very eye-catching appearance due to the raised relief they have. They are very colorful and their different finishes and techniques make them indispensable for any kind of garment that wants to communicate its best attributes, and more so, if it deals with sport or technical garments,” he states.

Different lines
If we refer only to plastic labels, we see that the range offered by Varmys is especially wide. In reality it is divided into two groups. One of them is hanging labels and the other is stitched and appliqué labels.
“In the first case, these are usually plastic labels embossed with different techniques, that is, a presentation label, combined with another normally of information. In turn, attached by a 3mm strip, stamped with the customer’s brand or a sealing strip placed in order to personalize the brand even more, if that fits. It must communicate all its content to the potential buyer. It is the label that originates the hot sale in the store. In the second case, we present plastic microinjected labels, with the high frequency technique, or simply stamped onto different plastic supports. Their function is that of transmitting that product image during the garment’s useful life. Great care must be taken with its size, its thickness, its precise positioning, the material used and the range of colors, so that the combination of the elements gives the intended end effect,” Fernando Mellado informs us in his extensive exposition.

Different sectors and label personalization
Our interviewee explains to us that an important section is dominated by manufacturers of sports wear, although also bathroom clothing, knitwear, town wear and others to a lesser extent.
Regarding the personalization of the plastic labels fitting the manufacture to customer demand, Mellado replies that Varmys “has an extensive commercial network, which is what best succeeds in giving advice to our clientele in all aspects of this type of product. Not everything can be carried out, but our commercial team has the knowledge and experience that make the choice of each technique for this type of label so that it is most suited to the garment, product image and characteristics of the customer in question. It must always be borne in mind that they are labels that, by their very nature, are mot compatible with ironing. For that there are other types of articles such as appliqués in materials such as PU, woven labels, or printed ribbons. We have a series of standard motifs, but practically the entire product is personalized. We deal with each one of the customer’s needs very particularly, backed up by our commercial staff and the samples that we have available for that task.”

Minimum requirements of demand
When dealing with personalized labels, being a non-standardized product, “there has to be a harmonious relationship between the amount produced, price and the length of time for delivery. Naturally there are some minimum requirements regarding each product. All these parameters are indicated by the market. The current minimums, as well as the prices or fulfillment times, are nothing like those of a few years ago.”

Plastic tags
Plastic is also present in another of the Varmys products: zipper tags, articles with very significant aspects within this firm’s output. A collection that covers those made with plastic microinjection, as well as tags woven with volume for easy fixing, those printed on tapes with an eye to fasten them or those laser printed in synthetic materials to be attached in a practical way.
And ending our interview, the manager of Varmys tells us that “it is really important to have a good design in order to make any type of label. What turns out to be very nice for one specific brand might be less suitable for another. The design, the type of letter, the corporate colors, etc, are of paramount importance as well as having people who are expert in this sense. It is what differentiates a good result from one that is not.”
