Lectra announces that they have sold 100 Vector MP automatic cutting systems. This CAM system was launched to the market in 2003 to meet the demands of the fashion, automotive and upholster industries, and the sales levels recorded due to the excellent acceptance on the part of consumers.
According to Pierre-Michel Richer, Marketing Manager of Lectra: “We have a long history in building close relationships with clients to develop new, efficient solutions to meet their challenges. Clothes-making businesses face new challenges, as quotas are eliminated and automotive interiors manufacturers have to adapt to the many changes in OEMs. Vector MP results from an extensive research and development policy and the sales of Vector MP 100 system in just three years shows that our efforts are worth it and of great value”.
Technological innovation at the service of flexibility and productivity
Increasing flexibility is a strategic issue for manufacturers in the marketplace, as they are influenced by the demand of consumers and the multiple styles and variations available for models. On the other hand, production de-localization has forced companies to change processes, prioritizing flexibility to shorten response periods.
Vector MP is a cutting system that solves this challenge. Since the launch of the first Vector system in 1993 Lectra became a world leader in fabric automatic cutting systems, attaining record levels of sales, with 3500 machines sold. The technology of Vector MP offers productivity, reliability and accuracy, adapting to all types of materials. The “eclipse” function of Vector MP improves performance as it allows for cutting as the conveyor advances.
Vector MP may be accompanies by a remote-specialization service option, by means of five international call centers offered by Lectra, with a team of experts who can access the cutting system at a distance to calibrate the machine according to actual needs on the part of clients. This function also allows for testing, diagnosing and solving errors without the need of physical intervention. Remote specialization by Lectra improved return on investments and significantly reduces out-of-service incidents.
Response, adapted to market sector needs
Vector MP automatic cutting systems result from Lectra’s consistency in investing in Research and Development, grouping specialists from various market sectors who are able to develop consistent, comprehensive solutions for specific needs.
For the global automotive sector where production flexibility has become a strategic challenge, Lectra’s VectorAuto MP9 is the ideal solution for large volumes and the first feasible alternative whenever production levels increase. VectorAuto MP9 has been adopted by Johnson Controls, one of the world’s leading auto upholstery suppliers, as it offers the flexibility required in view of the large range of options and variables proposed by the automotive sector. Daniel Harari, President of Lectra, states, “Vector MP is one of our pillars. Our clients can overcome major challenges posed by today’s swift changes, so Lectra is an indispensable companion on the road to success”.
