Olivier Dumollard (Coats Fabra): “Our sales are growing steadily, year after year”

Zips are to Coats Fabra one of the many product references they manufacture and distribute to the clothes-making sector. Coats Fabra’s five zip varieties are sold worldwide: spiral (4.0mm, 6.0 mm and 8.0 mm); plastic (6.0mm and 8.00 mm); metal (4.5 mm and 6.0 mm) and invisible (spiral).

Main features
We interviewed Olivier Dumollard, Head of the Marketing Department at Coats Fabra, to learn more about these different zip varieties. He describes in detail the main, specific features for each one. He explains that the Spiral Opti zip is of excellent quality because the spiral is woven into the ribbon, and that “this exclusive process by Coats Opti guarantees resistance and durability, as compared to other zips in which the spiral is sewn onto the ribbon. In addition, this allows spirals to be as flat as possible, which is a major advantage to the footwear and clothes-making industry sectors. Also, esthetically, there is a significant difference”. Plastic zips, on the other hand, may be manufactured in colours matching the ribbon’s or contrasting with it, according to clients’ needs. Metal zips feature a variety of runners. The Invisible zip is light and its range includes a cotton-ribbon zip for dyeing according to preference.

Clothes-makers’ preferences
In their efforts to satisfy clients’ needs and requirements, “Coats, the leading yarn and thread supplier worldwide, offers a range of zips available in the same colours offered in our thread and yarn varieties. Therefore, clients may order zips that will exactly match the colour of the garments and seams. So there is no risk of the zip being different to the colour of seams, and overall appearance is improved greatly.

2003 first half reveals very positive results
The Marketing Manager tells us that “zips sales in Spain is a relatively new activity for Coats, so the Coats Groups (second worldwide zip supplier) is contributing with their resources towards multiplying our sales levels, year after year”. The results for the second semester is foreseen to be similar to those for the first half of 2003. “We believe the markets will reveal significant demand levels over the first three months, and that for the last three months this year, demand might decrease slightly. But we expect to keep on growing, in view of our impressive success”.

Future novelties
We asked Mr. Olivier Dumollard about the novelties Coats Fabra is about to introduce in the coming months. He keeps the details to himself, but tells us they are optimistic, for the company “seeks to strengthen its offer before enlarging the product range. We are mainly interested in improving and perfecting our Customer Service area”.
