Cematex (European Committee of Textile Machinery Manufacturers), CTMA (China Textile Machinery Association), CCPIT-Tex (Sub Council of Textile Industry, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade) and CIEC (China Exhibition Centre Group Corporation), signed a long-term cooperation agreement. The first step involves joint planning of a textile machinery tradeshow in 2008.
The coming edition of ITMA Asia will then be held in China, as “ITMA Asia + Citme 2008”. The venue chosen is the Shanghai New International Expo Centre and the date is July 27th to 31st, 2008. Both parties have agreed to plan ITMA Asia + Citme in Shanghai, every two years, so the following edition will be in 2010.
The first edition of ITMA ASIA was held in 2001, followed by a second edition jointly held with Jtma (Japan Textile Machinery Association), in 2005. Both were held in Singapore. Cematex also organizes ITMA, held every 4 years in different European cities, since its creation in 1951. The fifteenth edition will be held in München, Germany, in September 2007.
Citma (owned by CTMA) was first held in 1988 and has been taking place in Beijing every two years. The tenth edition was held last October.
Amec Amtex (Asociación Española de Constructores de Maquinaria Textil) is a member of Cematex and actively participates in planning ITMA and ITMA Asia. Joan Martí, President of Amec Amtex, points out, “It is, without a doubt, a proof of our success to hold ITMA Asia in China. This is the results of efforts on the part of all members of Cematex, and we are sure it will be a great opportunity for Spanish companies as it perfectly meets the essential goals of Cematex to move ITMA Asia to the leading textile manufacturing market and to unite tradeshows, thus reducing the number of events held around the world”.
