Enrique Molla, Manager of Corbisa Onteniente, a leading company specialized in the manufacture of bias bindings, says “the main consumer sector is that of home textile products, even though there are many other sub-sectors that use bindings in greater or lesser measure”.
In fact, each textile sub-sector will respond to given trends, and the clothes-making and prêt a porter sections are mostly influenced by new fashion trends, each season. Mr. Molla believes that “launching new, daring bindings would mean nothing if designers and fashion creators did not feature them as a trend. I believe these professionals are a major influence on demand levels for these products.”
Even so, we must admit new trends are not always definitive. New fashion trends including frayed hems are evidently affecting demand levels, but “there is still a major portion in markets seeking bindings for hems”, he points out.
New frontiers
Corbisa Onteniente is specialized in national markets. “We are not currently exporting that much, even though we are working on that. We are about to open markets in France, Belgium and Portugal, among other countries”, Enrique Molla explains.
Imported bindings
Fortunately, “imported products do not especially affect our sector. In fact, our markets are experiencing positive levels, for bindings are required in various textile sub-sectors and our company stands out as a major supplier”, Mr. Molla adds.
