YKK’s preview of trends for the 2008-2009 autumn-winter season

The concept of beauty is reflected in designs by YKK for the coming 2008-2009 winter season. This is the basic concept for the four lines of zippers designed as novelties by YKK.
Four trends express the sensations and emotions evoked by beauty: Decorum, @rchives, Impulsión and Smart.
Today, when most products are differentiated through design, there is a nostalgic spirit inspired in Retro, vintage trends prevalent since 2000. Contrasts and opposites are also empowered.
The presence of beauty in these trends goes from the classic to the contemporary. We might even say it is all about hybrids, mixtures, a merging of styles...
The four themes reveal absolute, intellectual, harmonious beauty.
Decorum highlights an alliance of motifs and baroque patterns, with colored ribbons, and zippers become the protagonists, with exaggerated colours and multiple details. This is a truly ornamental trend.
@rchives finds its inspiration in the past, in more sober designs and golden colours. Know-how becomes a protagonist, as a “worn” look places an emphasis on tradition and details with sobriety and subtle sophistication.
Impulsion recreates the Vintage spirit applied to sportswear, with a rusty look and felt ribbons, but supported by hi-performance, aerodynamic technologies highlighting efficiency and quickness, though with the retrospective look of worn, primitive elements.
Smart proposes the elegance of the 60s, based on geometrical shapes. The theme is interpreted as a structured code that is nevertheless very chic.
