| YKK manufactures zippers and related products for the clothes making sector, and takes part at all major tradeshows including Mod’Amont, Moda In, Ispo, Sasmex, Dema and Munich Fabric Star. Their broad range of references is widely recognized and appreciated in a market sector requiring quality but also valuing novelties.
Collections, always updated and expanded
The number of products and references marketed by YKK is so extensive that “based on all the proposals included we should say there is no end to our total number. However, there are over 25 new products, and 44 in our S&B division of metal items”, states Francesc Vilarrubí, Marketing Director of YKK. He also points out, “In our collections, clients will find a variety of materials and features for plastic items, ribbons and all other textile products”.
YKK Spain manufactures and markets zippers and other metallic components like buttons for jeans, rivets, snap buttons and metal accessories. The range of plastic products includes zippers, buckles, adjusting straps and textile products.
Zippers for glamorous gowns
Zippers are no longer used just for sportswear or casual fashion. For those glamorous gowns, YKK markets suitable zippers like Excella®, with polished teeth and available in several versions, or Lumina® (aluminium base and polished teeth for lightness and a better look), available on various support materials like satin, velvet, Lurex, felt, wool, Vintage, Jacquard, etc. and with runners coated with jewelry finishes.
Our interviewee tells us more about the versatility of zippers, “Fortunately, zippers continue to maintain their basic, essential function: joining, closing, opening...and we continue to innovate in order to adapt to clients’ needs. Sometimes it is about enhancing clothes, so our solutions in these cases is not just oriented to function and manufacture, but with a touch of elegance, as in jewelry. It will all depend on materials and finished used”.
Zippers for casual wear
Zippers recommended by YKK for casual wear are based on support fabrics coated with polyurethane film and/or with digitally printed logotypes. Also, the Aquaguard® (water repellant) family for technical wear.
The clothes making sector as a major consumer of zippers
Francesc Vilarrubí tells us, “The clothes making sector, comprising a variety of segments, continues to be our major consumers. Though as we make and market so many product lines, there are other sectors that also make up our large business portfolio, like automotive, agriculture, fishing, health care, government agencies, law enforcement, among others, as just a few of our market targets”.
Recycled products
At the end of our interview Mr. Villarubi comments on a very interesting line, “Our Natulon® tapes, ribbons and zippers are all manufactured with recycled products complying with all technical requirements for production processes”.
