Based on the innovative mPCM- technology (microencapsulated Phase Change Material), Freudenberg developed this „intelligent“ material which interacts with body and ambient temperature. What is more, Comfortemp Nonwovens provide every effective moisture management keeping you pleasantly dry. They enhance your physical and mental comfort creating a holistic well-being, wether you are at work, sports or play.
Comfortemp Nonwovens contain millions of thermoregulating microcapsules – mPCM- which are embedded in a nonwoven material. These mPCM are preset to a specific temperature range appropriate for the application and activate when body and /or ambient temperature varies. When the body produces excess heat, the mPCM turn from solid to liquid thus absorbing heat and creating a cooling sensation. When it is cold, the mPCM change from liquid to solid, releasing the stored heat to keep the body warm.
This is a nonstop process; body heat and ambient temperature continually recharge the microcapsules for the long-term thermoregulating performance of the material.
Comfortemp Nonwovens were developed by Freudenberg, the world-leader in the manufacturer of nonwovens, and offer many benefits to meet both maufacturers‘ and customers‘ needs.
Basic research on mPCM was conducted by NASA to increase the performance of astronauts‘ space suits and gloves. Freudenberg developed Comfortemp Nonwovens on basis of this mPCM technology; an innovative material with high thermoregulating performance.
