| Premiere Vision is a tradeshow comprising several shows, all coinciding in both space and time. It closed on September 26th last, having presented the latest trends in yarns, prints, designs, fabrics, trimmings and tannery products for the 2009/2010 autumn/winter season. The edition was affected by the public transportation strikes during the first two days, and also, because of the Euro/US dollar currency exchange rate causing American visitors to cancel their visits.
Premiere Vision – Expofil
Figures for Premiere Vision and Expofil were unified. Participating companies at Premiere Vision totaled 720, while 49 took part in Expofil. Innovative yarns and fabrics attracted buyers and as expected, due to the above mentioned problems, Premiere Vision and Expofil had fewer visitors, but this decrease was slight, of only 6% when compared to the edition of September 2007. There were fewer visitors from the European Union, but more professionals coming from Romania, Hungary, Sweden, Belgium and the Netherlands, while the presence of Russian visitors was really significant.
Mod’Amont
Visitors to Mod’Among totaled 22,017 while participating companies added up to 302, reflecting growth rates caused by new participants. The number of visitors coming from abroad grew as follows: China (+ 41%), Turkey ( +37%), Brazil (+ 27%), France ( +19%), Italy (+ 19 %), USA (+ 1, 5%) while there were fewer coming from Germany (- 12%), Japan (-12%), the UK (-0,6 %), and Spain (- 4%).
The financial crisis affecting markets did not seem to have a major impact on the quality, creativity and exclusivity of Mod’Amont.
Le Cuir a Paris
A total of 349 exhibiting companies from 24 countries showcased their products to 12,773 visitors, a number slightly lower to that of September 2007. However, among them the number of visitors from Italy, Portugal, Russia, Scandinavia and Sweden was higher. Many of them praised Spanish products as “of improved quality, revealing hard work”, and in general, they also had positive comments to make on the quality of collections presented.
Indigo
Creativity found its meeting place once again at Indigo. The innovative designs that will enhance fabrics this new season fascinated visitors. 187 artists showed professionals the many possibilities printing gives, in particular as this trend has been growing for the past few seasons. Of the companies taking part, most were British, followed in number by those coming from France, Italy and the USA.
The next edition of Premiere Vision Pluriel will take place from February 10th to 13th, 2009.
Premiere Vision: hands first, eyes come second
One of the most attractive proposals by planners of Premiere Vision was focusing the interest visitors on the sense of touch. Visitors could experience the texture of fabrics before even having a good look at them, and so determine whether they liked it or not.
All of them (planning their collections for the 2009/2010 winter season) showed great interest in several colours: toxic violet, mauve fuel, light night blue, lava, ginger, amanite, vinegar, grape, oyter, algae, truffle, mud.
As to relief, the most attractive were tweeds, Cloque, shiny structures, flamed, bas reliefs and engraved.
Textures that attracted visitors’ attentions were the warm, sweet, cozy, natural woolly.
Materials revealing greater success were 100% silk, 100% cotton, wool/silk blends (the queens of this season), cotton/elastomer, polyester/wool, 100% polyester and microfibres.
Fabrics were either fluid or compact, with the presence of swelled looks as well.
And among the types of materials generating greater interest were satin, Jacquard, woven fabrics, Twill, Chevron, Reversible and moderate fantasies.
Finished included glossy, metallized, worn, felted, tarnished and grooved.
As to patterns, Prince of Wales, chequered, floral, dogtooth and fantasy chequered, with the preeminence of bi-colours and Camaieux.
