The Source, a new tradeshow for the clothesmaking sector
|
There is now a new area within the framework of Bread & Butter, held in Barcelona from July 2nd to 4th. The Source is dedicated to the sector of textile production and for the first time this space in Bread & Butter was the most international meeting point for the fashion and textile sectors, with suppliers coinciding in a single space.
The Source was divided into two pavilions, with No. 6 showcasing Denim and sportswear, laundry services, accessories and manufacturers, and Pavilion 7 grouping plain fabric, wool, mixed fabrics, leather suppliers for high-end clothes makers, also increasingly relevant in the Street and Urbanwear sectors, along with products and accessories.
The new initiative was widely acclaimed, for it groups all actors in the sector, offering suppliers and clothesmakers the opportunity to exchange information and make contacts.
Exhibiting companies were all in agreement as to the convenience of this show, with great expectations for future editions. Manufacturers of fabrics and accessories confirmed they will once again take part in the next edition, and the comments by some of them are included below:
Vidal Aymerich-Dalay took part in The Source, the show Bread & Butter opened for manufacturers of materials, fabrics and accessories. Joan Talamas, manager of this company, commented that his company showcased products for the prêt a porter, sportswear and outdoor clothes sector, involving clients that have already participated at Breat & Butter. When asked about the number of visitors and if it was equivalent to that for Bread & Butter, Talamas replied, “We know that B&B is visited by a large number of people, but we do not know much about commercial activity there. At The Source, there were fewer visitors but we did make very interesting contacts. Today, at this kind of tradeshow you do not expect orders. It is more about making contacts that may potentially become orders in the future”, he added.
Of those visiting the stand by Vidal Aymerich, 48% came from Spain, 11% from Turkey, 8% from France, 5% from Italy, 5% from the US, 4% from Germany and there were also visitors from other countries.
Joan Talamas stated, “Results were positive, though this can always be improved. However, in times such as these we cannot complain. We must rather work harder and invest in new tradeshow, to make new contacts and turn them into new clients, to build loyalty among them. This cannot be done in just one show. You need to persist and work hard, always in the best direction. Vidal Aymerich will once again take part in the next edition of this show”, he commented.
Madeira, the manufacturer of threads and yarns, participated at The Source, presenting their full range of colours “and especially our Frosted Matt polyester (matte) with the new range of metallized colours”, says Xavier Guillen.
Our interviewee believes, “The Source had lots of visitors, but not as many as Bread & Butter. Our only complaint is that those visiting Bread & Butter could not use their passes for visiting The Source, and vice versa”.
As to contacts made during the tradeshow, “We did contact various manufacturers and fashion designers from around the world, mostly from Europe but also from North and South America, and Asia”.
Our interviewee also said, “Our experience was positive in general terms, but as usual with all first times, there are aspects that can be improved upon. But we will take part in the next edition for the best thing was the opportunity to make ourselves known internationally. Planners of The Source should really consider the possibility of having visitors see both shows with a single pass”.
