Handarbeit & Hobby’s announced schedule and work on novelties
|
The next edition of Handarbeit will be held earlier next year, at Pavilion 2 of the Exhibitions Center in Koeln. The 27th edition of the leading “Handarbeit & Hobby Show”, the leading international show for fabrics, embroidery, sewing and handcrafts, changed its schedule to March 20th to 22nd, 2009. To this date, 180 companies from 25 countries have already booked their space and over 90% of the net area is already sold. In 2008, a total 220 companies participated and 8,900 professionals visited the show. “In our opinion, Handarbeit & Hobby is an indispensable source of creativity and innovation in our sector, for both manufacturers and traders”, stated a representative of VSM Deutschland GmbH as the 2008 edition closed. This speaks of the relevance of Handarbeit &Hobby.
The group works with a number of partners on an excellent plan of activities, so that in 2009 Handarbeit & Hobby will once again reaffirm its international reputation. Among these activities, is the “Grand fashion show of novelties”, with the participation of companies working together in the Handarbeit initiative. There will also be a workshop program, headed by HobbyArt (Bit publications). Artist Silke Bosbach will contribute her prestige to Handarbeit & Hobby 2009 with a special, magnificent attraction: “the Shibori technique”, the Japanese name for a technique involving colour penetration by kneading and wrapping material. Simultaneously, knotting and tying result in magnificent reliefs and colours. “Wools of Germany” is an initiative that seeks to reinforce awareness among consumers in terms of national products and the promotion of business endeavours resulting in more jobs. “From shepherds to consumers” is a special presentation that will also be featured in Koeln, with ah collection of wools for home or industrial use, all exclusively produced in Germany at the Merino area of BiospähreAlb, an environmental protection area in the Alps. The presentation will show all processes in the production of wool for sweaters and stockings, and part of the proceeds of sales will be donated to the BiospähreAlb National Park. This part extends over 6,700 hectares, where some 30,000 sheep roam at ease. More information is available to professionals and visitors, at www.handarbeit-hobby.de
