The VIIth edition of Milano Unica, with results beyond expectations

Some 31, 500 visitors came to Fieramilanocity at El Portello to visit the event that closed on September 19th last, with highly satisfactory results for everyone. Throughout the event, the pressure of the current international crisis experienced great relief, as major buyers showed an interest in products showcased.
Promoted and planned by the 5 prestigious “Made in Italy” Ideabiella, IdeaComo, Moda In, Prato Expo and Shirt Avenue, Milano Unica confirmed the relevance of the Italian textile industry sector, even in spite of the current challenges and difficulties. Exportations to developing countries, China, Hong Kong and other Asian markets have grown due to the support and hard work of so many. The 667 exhibitors in the 5 textile shows felt optimistic as they contacted major Italian and international importers and buyers. The four days of the show were essential as an opportunity to do business and work. This, thanks to the excellent work ofp lanners.
Of those countries that made major progress, we should mention China and Hong Kong, countries in Eastern Europe (Poland and Hungary), Latin America (Brazil and Argentina), with good presence of buyers from Germany, England, Austria and the Benelux. A total 16, 989 companies were represented, of which 5,242 were foreign. Of the 667 exhibitors, 518 were Italian and 25% came from the European Union (in addition to Italy, France, Spain, England, Portugal and Germany). The area extended over 27,000 square meters.
The edition was supported by ICE, Italian Foreign Trade Institute. The President of Milano Unica, Paolo Zegna, stated, “I cannot deny I had some qualms regarding this VIIth edition but even so, we always need to think positive for not everything is as bad as it seems. Our textile sector continues to be regarded as a point of reference by Italian and international fabric manufacturers, fashion companies in the medium and high-range segments.
We need to trust our future will be good, and work with the same dedication, believing in excellence and innovation as the only answers to the challenge of competing in this difficult, globalized marketplace”.
The next edition with be held at El Portello from February 3rd to 6th, 2009.
