Invista, one of the world’s leading producer of fibres and polymers, owning the Lycra brand, launches a new collection of stockings and socks, “Legwear Innovation Collection” for the 2010 spring-summer season.
The purpose of this initiative is the long-term creation of added value for the worldwide socks and stocking sector with products that meet consumers’ demands. The new collection represents the first stage in a series of innovations in terms of fibres and products, to be launched by Invista shortly.
“Legwear Innovation Collection” comprises five lines of seamless socks and stockings made with Lycra and T400 fibres: Painterly, The Romantic Body, The Graphic Body and Slashed & Perforated.
5 highly differentiated collections
Painterly summarizes trends in two frames of mind: strictness and escapism. Models enhance the look of combined transparencies and non-transparent fibres creating sexy contrasts. There are also stockings with customized layers and daring slashes, in addition to attractive lace patterns. Exotic, kaleidoscopic, bright colours make a comeback, bringing liveliness to these times of austerity and the collection reflects elements of contemporary art and Pop culture. Legs are then the perfect canvas for innovation, evident in tattoo-type patterns.
Weightless Layering is the lightweight reply to fashion trends today. Products are inspired in modern ballet, with floating layers forming silhouettes and the superposition of dresses, with irregular hems that bring out the relevance of stockings, which also comprise models with no heels or tips, and leggings in various lengths. There are models with transparencies up to the knee, socks or stockings that delicately wrap up the leg in layers, with no ornamentation. Pastel, smooth, fresh colours in an ethereal style.
The Romantic Body brings lace effects and an urban style in lace esthetics above the knee. Bows are now combined with technology and the properties of Lycra for a perfect fit and maximum comfort. The trend in this line is conceived to conjugate with long or short skirts, Bloomer-type shorts and dresses. Colours are mainly white, bone white, pale and neutral pastel shades.
The Graphic Body is inspired in the ‘60s, with sculptured silhouettes marking shoulders, narrow waistlines, short skirts and tight trousers. Black, white and natural skin are the colours that dominate this new look, where cyclist trousers are worn with Lycra stockings and short stockings with no heels or toe tips feature asymmetrical patterns.
Slashed & Perforated, with slashed and holes features leggings and stockings in opaque shades, in a trend that does away with gloss and brings geometrical holes and slanted slashes, with designs that sometimes feature layers on tight Denim leggings, in a very fashionable look. The trend calls for black, white and Denim blue though there are also lively colours contrasting with natural skin or cream.
