Now, with the development of a new technology known as Micro Core Technology® (MCT), thread manufacture profits from true innovation. This is the first fibre spinning technology using polyester microfilaments, a step towards the future in thread manufacture.
Micro Core Technology® is much more than all other conventional production techniques. For it brings the first core-spun, microfilament wrapped threads with no fibres, which means no abrasion. The result: smooth, uniform, easy to handle surface.

MCT threads are made from raw materials that are technically accurate in definition. Thus, threads have a uniform diameter with no thickness fluctuations, a major difference that yields returns as they allow for sewing at constant thread tension, for they will slide easily and create an excellent impression, with even stitches and uniform seams.
Shiny, clean, almost no abrasion
Conventional core-spun threads inevitably mean that fibre ends stand out, creating a “hairy” aspect and producing lint. With MCT, this is not so because these threads are the only ones made with core-spun filaments that run all along the thread from beginning to end. The textile surface is made up of tiny curls that will better resist mechanic tension, with uniform levels and silky sheen when the light concentrates on the finely structured surface, reflecting itself in a single direction. Simply brilliant.
There are no fibre ends, so abrasion is minimized. This yields results as seams are neat, uniforms and machines remain clean. Production is hassle-free and requires less maintenance. No dust, fibres or lint when sewing.
Advantages of MCT threads
MCT threads do not only offer the benefits of being easier to handle, with superior shine and uniform surface, in comparison to core-spun threads and even air-textured, conventional threads. One of the reasons: production controls are accurately defined and fully controllable, guaranteeing perfect reproduction and quality. Polyester has been especially developed with ultra-fine microfilament components, and MCT threads by Gütermann are produced in machines especially developed for this technique. This means great results and advantages.
Threads made with Micro core Technology® have no thickness variations, produce no dust or lint, do not look hairy and are fine, perfectly round in section. Among their many advantages, these threads offer perfectly uniform seams, with practically no abrasion. On the other hand, there is no tension fluctuation and tension required is minimal (<25c/N), meaning seams are richer and automatic sewing and processes are more reliable. With high resistance to mechanic treatments. MCT allows for the use of the thinnest available needles.
