FIMI reasserts its position as the major Trade Show within its sector

The 58th edition of Feria Internacional de Moda Infantil (FIMI) (International Children’s Fashion Show), held at Feria de Valencia between January 23th and 25th, 2004, revealed highly positive results that reassert its position as the leading trade show within its sector. The meeting point for national and international professionals in the children’s and youth’s fashion sector included presentations by over 400 brand names representing 267 companies, over an area of 24,238 square meters.
Collections by great designers like Jesús del Pozo, Francis Montesinos, Vittorio & Luchino, Devota & Lomba or Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, marked the offer of this edition along with the great quality of the collections, the variety of fabrics and the introduction of color and printing for the clothes and complements for all ages.
One of the most significant actions of this trade show held every year was the award of FIMI distinctions, resulting from the questionnaires presented by every professional visiting the previous trade shows. The awards were given to Red Point (Best Collection Award), Bóboli (Best Stand Award), B3 Elementos de Escaparate (Best Stand Welcome Award).
On the other hand, the Catwalk was one of the most important actions at the event, with parades by 17 national and foreign companies selected by FIMI’s Fashion Committee. Over three days, some 12,000 visitors could see the proposals for the 2005 autumn-winter season, outstanding for their daring colour contrasts, vegetable motifs, technical fabrics, suede, flannels and complements such as gloves, leggings, warmers, etc.
FIMI also included a workshop jointly organized with ICEX, Feria Valencia and ASERPI (Asociación Española de Productos para la Infancia), about ‘How to export children’s fashion to Mexico with the best guarantees for success”.
The workshop features basic keys to achieve the inclusion in Mexican markets with good results. There were presentations of actual cases by Spanish companies and manufacturers were encouraged to invest and export to Mexico given the position of Spanish products among medium-high-level consumers in that Latin American country. The President of the Textile-Clothing Chamber in Mexico, and President of the Children’s Trade Shows Mexican Committee, Juan Santos, stated that ‘the work in this event in Leon is highly positive for Spanish companies, who need to make the most of this moment to strengthen their position in Mexican markets and launch their products from this country to other markets in North and South America, where there are about 700 million potential consumers”.
This latest edition strengthened the history of Feria Internacional de la Moda Infantil y Juvenil de Valencia as one of the strongest internationally, within the trade show sector. Over its forty-year history, FIMI has revealed itself as referential in the children’s fashion sector, evolving in various aspects, such as the growth in the number of exhibitors, visitors and net exhibition area.
