Lyon Mode City and Interfilière confirm their international vitality

At the last meeting of the two French exhibitions, 19.778 visitors have come to see the latest new models of fabrics intended to lingerie and bathing clothes. The presence of less French professionals and more international ones have proved the international character of these fairs. They were more Italians, Spanish, English, Germans, Japanese, Chinese and Belgians than before, but less Americans, Swiss and Koreans. The Top 10 list did not change a lot. The United Kingdom went one step up and Japan passed from the 8th position to the 6th. Switzerland provided a minority of visitors and lost positions. And China went 3 steps up.

General lines
The Union of the 25 has increased of 10.4%, the new countries representing 7.8% (the same world scale weight as in 2003). The Middle East kept the same position as in 2003 in spite of the difficulties of its geopolitical context. On the other hand the rise of Asian visitors (+18.1%) was due to Japan and China with rises of 23.8% and 21% respectively. The American continent kept its position with 39 visitors less than in 2003. Africa and the rest of Europe went down.

The situation of the sector
The textile and clothing sectors completely represented in Lyon are suffering significant restructuring. With the opening of the European borders, visitors have noticed balance and dynamism in the fairs.
The 1000 brands of lingerie and bathing clothes and the 390 clothes manufacturers have demonstrated that in spite of the situation of a sleeping economy (0% global rise in the textile and clothing sector in 2003), the branch of lingerie and bating clothes has increased (+3%). The exhibitors’ optimism was confirmed by a good predisposition of buyers.
Lyon was a successful fair. Visitors enjoyed the collections’ creativeness in fabrics as well as in finish products thanks to the numerous means of communication set up (forum, fashion show, etc.).

Lyon Mode City is 20 years old
The night of its 20 years old, Lyon Mode City awarded with a lot of emotion the 20 general managers of the first exhibitors firms of lingerie and bathing clothes, together with the 10 first exhibitors of Interfilière. Eurovet wanted with this party to thanks for the loyalty which made the success of the fairs possible.

4 more meeting created
4 more meeting points of information were created this year through conferences about “the world consumer”. They were led by sociologist, manufacturers, advertising executive, marketing advisers…:
-"The world consumers"
-“Lingerie and bathing clothes: new segmentation, new markets, micro markets”
-"Communications and Lingerie”
-"Consumers facing innovation”
These conferences had a lot of success among the audience. They already expect the same to happen in the next edition.

The epic of the factors
The “Epic of the factors” forum had a lot of success among visitors. Its concept was the differentiation of brands. Visitors have found themselves in 4 universes of lingerie and bathing clothes with stage design of the summer 2005. A moment of originality, the “Fifth Element” totem showed the crucial moments of the fair filmed in live…

The bet for the window display
The vote of the “merchandising windows” decided that “Aquatic Choreography” was the most original and creative window. “Junior Menu” arrived second. One of the voters won the accessories and visuals of the winner’s window.

New propositions on the catwalk
2000 visitors were passing everyday in the 4th room. They showed a lot of interest for the new creations of the brands present in Lingerie Catwalk, Bathing Catwalk and the new catwalk “Very Lyon, mode city” (combination of lingerie and bathing). Such concepts were accepted by professionals.

Interfilière
On his side, Interfilière registered a significant rise of its sales. In fact many exhibitors noticed that they had received more visitors than the last time.

The general forum
Interfilière inaugurated a new General Forum made up of a place for tendencies and a place for fabric exposition that had a lot of visitors. They were in fact attracted by the quality of the fabrics as well as by the beauty of the 5 productions. Visitors liked the surprise effect and found it interactive, clear, inspiring…wonderful! The fabrics room was made to put in contact exhibitors and potential customers.
With Japan, Fibres and High Tech, Interfilière knows about technology. The collections innovation and a significant creativity prove that the textile sector has still things to say and to show.
The next meeting of Lyon Mode City and Interfilière will take place from the 3rd to the 5th of September 2005.
