IKME 2005: the European knitting machines sector is reactivated

At its closing date in Milan IKME Finishing & Knitting 2005 (International Knitting and Finishing Machine Exhibition), confirms reactivation of the knitting machine sector in an environment filled with optimism. At IKME 2005, held from November 18th to 22nd, 225 knitting machine manufacturers showcased their products to a wide range of international visitors. Federico Pellegata, Director of ACIMIT, stated "the planners' efforts are yielding good results, as 20% of the exhibiting companies are foreign, which makes this event really international".
The latest data reveal there were 8,644 visitors, of which 34.1% came from 74 countries, reaffirming the international character of this event. First among foreign countries showing interest was Germany (325 visitors), followed by Turkey (233), Spain (229), France (167), Poland (130), Switzerland (129), Portugal (125), Argentina (114) and Greece (112). Visitors also came from the UK, Brazil, Rusia, Bulgaria, Mexico, Romania, Austria, Japan, Syria, Iran, Egypt, and Tunisia. According to Paolo Banfi, president of ACIMIT, Association of Italian Machine Manufacturers, "this edition was very interesting from a business perspective because many manufacturers sold directly at the trade show and also made promising business contacts, thus making new clients". Paolo Taverna, general Director of Feria Milano Internacional, pointed out to the key to success for IKME 2005: "the perspective of focusing on quality was based on two pillars: good quality in the planning and organization and in the relationship among planners".
The coming edition of IKME, held every four years, will be in Milan, in autumn 2009.
