The company’s aim is to manufacture 5,000 tonnes a year of continuous viscose thread in Jilin (northwest China). Enka will contribute its know-how, machinery and necessary equipment for the new company to start operating next year. The new company will be known as Jilin Enka Viscose Co., Ltd. It will product viscose filament with the special technology for continuous thread weaving. Products are to be marketed by the Enka brand in China and the rest of the world.
Thomas Schneider states, “Due to the continuous and fast transference of textile activities to China it is indispensable for Enka not just to serve European clients, but also to offer its products in Asia. There were many aspects to be considered in the selection of a suitable partner and we chose Jilin, a leading company producing quality viscose continuous filament in Chinese markets”.
The chemical fibre plant owned by Jilin Chemical Fibre Group has about 7,000 employees and produces 22,000 tons of continuous viscose fibre every year, in addition to 55,000 tons of cut viscose fibre and 75,000 tons of acrylic fibre.
